The 1904 patent Lion is the most common of the figural Lions. Look on E Bay, and you will find one of these listed almost every day. What you won't find usually is a listing with measurements. There are actually 5 different varieties of this press. Size varies from 8 to 11 inches tall, and there are thin and thick base varieties. The 8 and 11 inch sizes are much less common than the usual 10 inch variety. The large variety shown is 23 inches tall and weighs 37 pounds. It lacks the patent date, but is of the same style.
This is another Lion that most likely dates from the early 1870's. It, like the previous press, is a sub-category of one.
The smooth neck natural Lion is a late 19th century arrival. Most of the seals which can be dated are from the 1890's to 1910.
